    fun fact: he was viewed as an ideal Christian monarch, leading france to its height at the time, canonized by the pope and given the title of “ Rex Christianissimus” (most Christian king) after leading two crusades.

    not so fun fact: he also ordered the burning of thousands of copies of the Talmud and expanded the punishment of blasphemy to lips and mouth mutilations. He also expanded the inquisition to target the cathars of France.
