  1. Yep, the spiders remain alive, yet paralyzed in this situation.

    If you crack open a nest, you’ll find multiple spiders and then the wasp larvae. They especially love black widows!

  2. Yup, lots of hunting wasps do this. Some also lay their eggs in caterpillars and let them keep walking around with the larva eating them until the pupae explode out of the poor thing’s skin.
