TIL that NFL QB Drew Bledsoe sheared a blood vessel from a hit. He most likely would have died but a team doctor caught it before he went home. The case is now taught to med students as a reason to not “jump to conclusions”. Bledsoe was replaced by a young QB named Tom Brady, his first game.

Unfortunately doctors have 5 seconds to jump to conclusions before they’re on to the next thing, none of have the luxury of an NFL team doctor with time to think anything over.
