TIL that North Korea hates western culture, namely capitalist culture, so much that they’ve banned various styles of blue jeans, certain types of piercings, and some styles of haircuts that are popularly seen, by them, as being representative of capitalist culture and lifestyle.

So what would happen if celebrities started dressing like North Koreans and made their style of dress fashionable? Lol
North Koreans don’t hate any of that.
The government bans it in order to control the people.
Seoul destroying to live there..
But damn if that Lincoln isn’t the best way to have your casket driven around in
Don’t give the Republicans any ideas.
You just learned this?
Your title is absolutely misleading and incorrect. Banning western culture is not because North Korean hates it, it is for the government to continuously brainwash them and ultimately controlling its population.
I just never get that Kim-Jong haircut.
What the hell would even ask for?
Give me the stupidest looking haircut you can come up with.
And if you’re the barber, how much are you shitting yourself that you don’t screw it up?
I don’t like it.
Oh god, my entire family is going to be tortured to death.
I LOVE IT!!!!
Oh you did the Simon Cowell thing, that’s really funny.
I need to change my underwear.
dont they also love hennesy?
I think it’s more of an anti-South thing, considering how very western South Korea is, they can’t allow people to relate to their direct “enemy”
And yet their great leader loves basketball dinner parties with Dennis Rodman.
And yet Kim Jong Il had a basketball as a centerpiece in a museum.
You just learned that today?
They banned the mullet. They might as well ban breathing, shooting my guns, driving my four wheeler to church, and fistfighting with my stepdad.
Isn’t Kim Jong Un friends with a US actor? I recall a story about them being on good terms and even hanging out from time to time.
Not even just some styles of haircuts, but any kind of haircut that is not one of the government regulated styles are banned.
That is not new or North Korean invention – all socialist countries had that in some degree.
