TIL that Pokemon Gold and Silver have a well hidden function where the player can decorate their starting bedroom. The decorations are dolls, game consoles, carpets, beds, and so on. Almost all of the decorations can only be found by using the Mystery Gift feature.

  1. I’ve been playing the Johto games since I was a small kid and never heard of this, even though I distinctly remember the secret base feature in the Hoenn games. I was looking at some sprites tonight and realized I definitely didn’t recognize the [Onix at the bottom of this sheet.](https://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/9/9077.png)

    Apparently you could even view the room on Pokemon Stadium. It’s not something I’d use if I were replaying them now, I just think it’s cool that there’s stuff in these games I still haven’t heard of.
