TIL that The Netherlands doesn’t use sand for their trains, but a mixture called Sandite, it’s a gel consisting of sand, anti-freeze, and steel shot. Often dispensed by the first passenger trains of the day to combat leaf slipperyness.

Trying to see a picture of what this stuff looks like and some stupid school had to have the same name as this stuff so thats all thats coming up. Im so sleepy
I never knew they put sand on the train lines. Seems a little cruel.
