TIL that turnips are exactly the same plant species as bok choy, choy sum and Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa). But that Chinese cabbage is a different species to other cabbages.

Same species but different cultivars. It’s like comparing a German shepherd to a dachshund to a fox. The first two are the same species and can cross breed (though it might be a bit awkward), but generally can’t mate with the other.
