TIL that when the British monarchy was restored in 1660 under Charles II, the body of Oliver Cromwell was dug up, hanged in chains and beheaded as a posthumous execution for the crime of signing Charles I’s death warrant. His head was then owned by various people till its burial in 1960.

Did they just pass his head around? “I think this head would look rather nice on your mantlepiece. I want you to have it and I won’t take no for an answer!”
It would be even weirder if his head was owned by one person for 300 years.
How petty to dig up a corpse and behead it. If you’re that angry about a dead person just piss on his grave like an adult and move on.
Cromwell is just like stalin and any other charlatan acting like they were for the greater good. Cult like personalities always transform good movements into totalitarian affairs.
Seriously, humans are the most fucked up creatures on the planet.

They put him back in the same hole? I mean it was already dug
And now we put his name on gin.
