TIL that Yuri Gagarin, the first man to fly into outer space died 8 yrs later when a MiG-15 he was flying crashed near Moscow during a routine training flight. An official investigation concluded that Gagarin swerved to avoid a foreign object sending the plane into a tailspin that caused the crash.
