TIL the cast of FRIENDS make more money from reruns than they ever did when making the show! They earned $18m each in their last season & now they earn $20m per year so it really has been their day, their week, their month and even their year for the last 17 years!

  1. I read also that the $20m per year was before Friends made it to Netflix so it could well be even more now.

Impressive to think that almost two decades later you’re still getting $20m a year and will continue to do so for many decades to come – impressive and I would say deserved – they made the show – so as the stars it seems only fair and appropriate that they can earn out it as well not just the company etc.

  2. And the cast of Gilligan’s Island (a sitcom from the 1960’s) made **zero** from their reruns, since that was never a part of their contract.

Gilligan’s Island faded away after it was cancelled but then the show became popular again in the 1970’s as reruns.

As a result of the 1970’s reruns, Gilligan’s Island enjoyed a second wave of popularity. Thus, a few more ‘special’ shows/movies were made in the 1970’s.

Tina Louise (who played ‘Ginger Grant’) is the last remaining member of Gilligan’s Island.
