The original thicc one with the exposed breasts was based on a 16th century Nordic woodcarving. I must have taught that Starbucks Experience new-hire class hundreds of times.

That’s the joke. Starbucks baristas say they are “trapped by the Siren” as she lures you into a job that slowly devours you.
Definitely not saying that Starbucks is trying to devour sailors, just thought it was interesting and a little bit funny!
Their old logo is also worth a look, it’s a little atrocious imo, I can see why they changed it
