TIL: The claim that the German public did not know about the concentration camps’ atrocities, generally made by Germans after Berlin fell in 1945 and accepted by most historians is false. Most of what happened in the camps were spread through German news in a process of “desensitization”.

Yea the whole smell of burning flesh in the area would sort of give it away too.
