TIL the famous scene of the sniper being shot through the scope in ‘Saving Private Ryan’ was based off a real event. Carlos Hathcock was pinned down by a sniper in the Vietnam War and killed his enemy by sighting the reflection of their scope and shooting them through it.

  1. The White Feather spotted the Vietcong sniper the moment he spotted him, that’s how he managed to get such a shot through the scope. Not only was he incredibly lucky, he was just plain quicker.
