TIL The “loneliest whale,” a Blue Whale documented to signal at an unusual frequency for it’s species (52 hz instead of 15-30 hz), was misinterpreted by the media to be completely silent to it’s counterparts. In truth, other Blue Whales can perceive its calls just as well as any others.
