TIL there is a little known island in New York City called Hart Island that has been used as a burial ground for poor or unidentified people for decades, and in 2012 Hurricane Sandy’s heavy storm surge tore at its shore revealing hundreds of human bones.

Fun fact: New York has a bunch of tiny island around the city. My favorite is Brother Island where Typhoid Mary was once housed.
