TIL, US Navy Vice Admiral Joel T. Boone is the most highly decorated medical officer in the history of the US Armed Forces. During World War I, he received the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, 6 Silver Stars and 3 Purple Hearts for heroism. He also served as physician for US Presidents.

  2. It’s a shame that recently this somehow weirdly became a somewhat political position under Trump. It’s literally just the doctor appointed as the physician as the president but Trump’s first one is now a Republican representative that ran on being an anti-masker and his second one left with Trump despite being an active duty military officer. Honestly just the mix of the military and politics under Trump was pretty disturbing as a vet.
