TIL when salt dissolves in water, it’s not actually “melting.” The water breaks the ionic bond between the sodium and chloride ions, resulting in a homogeneous solution.

So, it’s not melting so much as it’s gently bursting? Did I understand that right? Someone put the last part in layman’s terms please, I’m very curious.
