  1. No surprise. UK laws require extensive professional driving lessons before issuing a licence, and vehicles undergo a strict safety inspection (the MOT) every year. So the drivers and vehicles are far safer than US drivers and cars. Fancy that!

  2. That makes sense, given the prevalence of mass transit options in the UK compared to the US, as well as the massive difference in populations and numbers of vehicles.
