Today I learned that after being rescued from their abusive parents, 5 of the Turpin children were subsequently placed with an abusive foster family who adopted them while the abuse was occurring.

Not to mention all the money that was set aside to help them was kept by whoever was in charge of it. They made it impossible for the kids to use it for anything.
This story is the saddest. I don’t know who I feel worse for–the minors who continued to be abused, or the older kids who received no help at all and who had sustained cognitive and physical disabilities due to being starved and beaten for years without access to school or people or medical care.
The system is bröken.
