Today I learned that Ron Necciai is the only pitcher in major league history to strike out every batter in every inning of a game. He had 27 strike outs over a 9 inning game. Furthermore, he only played for just over a month in the big leagues and his career ERA is over 7. 1-6 career wins-losses.

  1. He’s not the “only pitcher in major league history” to do that because his 27 K game wasn’t in the majors – it was in the minors. And IIRC, he didn’t strike out *every* batter in that game – one of his outs wasn’t a strikeout and one of his strikeouts wasn’t an out (batter reached on passed ball).
